The Year 2025 has turned into a Renaissance Year for me. First came the request to turn The Night Fisherman into a stage play and the subsequent Table Reading in April in Philadelphia. The rewrite and republication of The Night Fisherman is complete and out there in the Universe once again.
Right on the heels of finishing work on The Night Fisherman came an opportunity that was even more unexpected. Many years ago, I was part of my brother’s garage band, then called Wild Cherry. I began to write lyrics for potential recordings. His band morphed into a band called Matriarch, and he spent several years playing in various venues around Northern New Jersey. Eventually, he left the band to pursue Metrology, an Engineering Specialty he practices to this day.
I left to go to college at the University of Scranton and into the US Army through the Active Reserve Unit stationed in Dunmore, PA. Meanwhile, a folder of lyrics and musical ideas gathered dust in the back of a drawer. A month ago, I became aware of digital software that could take the place of my brother’s band. I experimented with it, ultimately creating an 8-song CD, collectively called: What Tomorrow Brings.
The CD has a decidedly Country Music tone to it, with one notable exception: a wonderful movie-inspired ballad called: Touch Me, Don’t Tell Me.
Prior to this CD, I had written only one tune (Are You Alone Tonight), and that became the theme song to the ‘Love Handles’ Internet Radio Program that Diane Stout and I created for Home Grown Radio.
While this CD represents only a small portion of the songs created so long ago, it has made me smile to know that they are finally out of my head and out there in the Universe. On July 1st, 2025, I officially filed for copyright protection (Copyright.gov) for all the tunes on this CD.
What’s next?
It has been a beautiful distraction and I am proud of the result, but I am now back to writing full time with a nearly completed outline of a fourth novel – a follow up to Late Risers titled Friends of the Deceased expected early winter 2026.
